Lantern slides, ca. 1920-1940 bulk 1922-1939.

The lantern slides were collected by the Scripps librarian Ruth Ragan. The slides include original photographs and images copied from books and articles illustrating oceanographic research. Each slide is identified and labelled, although the date is only occasionally given. Ms. Ragan arranged the slides into broad subject categories, including Apparatus, Chemistry, Fish, Marine sediments and Physical oceanography.
